Kevin Yost -Persistence incl. Guy J remix out now on Lost & Found

Guy Js Lost & Found label launched to global acclaim in summer 2012. This exciting new platform will allow Guy to release not only his own critically lauded, sensual, hypnotic take on electronic music, but also give him the freedom to sign and nurture new talent and release hidden gems from the finest established artists. Lost & Founds highly anticipated second release comes from Kevin Yost, an outstanding musician, a master of restrained, classy deep house thats perfect atmospheric DJ material. One of USA’s finest house producers, the universally respected Kevin Yost has translated his jazz inspirations and percussion inclinations into dance productions of the most gorgeous beauty for many years now, so you can imagine how honoured and excited Guy J is to be able to release Persistence on his new label. Guy Js own work is always touched with a magic and emotion that few rival, so the idea of him remixing a master creation such as Persistence was always going to be a very exciting prospect indeed. As he builds the atmosphere slowly and seemingly effortlessly in a journey-like arrangement, it is immediately obvious that this is yet another amazing Guy J creation. He pushes emotion buttons like no other, creating uplifting, intelligent and beautiful music as one of the standout electronic artists in the world today. Having released some incredible memorable moments on Chicago’s seminal Guidance label and the New Jersey acid-jazz-house label i! Records, for many, Kevin Yosts 1998 single “One Starry Night” remains an untouchable classic. Fast forward 14 years and his creative genius is once again on show here on Lost & Found, the past and the future combined to a degree of perfection that few could match. This is music to be treasured forever. In a small town in Southern Pennsylvania, USA close to the border of Maryland is where my music started and continues to be created. Many people have confused me with living in a big city like Philadelphia or New York, but in fact a small town called Waynesboro is where I dwell. In a sense, living here is a good thing… no big city pollution, no traffic and no music business egos. This environment also gives me time to think about how amazing it is that a kid from such a small place can actually get the opportunity to travel and DJ all over the world. In all it has made me realize if you stay focused anything is possible. Kevin Yost

Japanese Snowbell Remixes Single incl. Guy J and Hernan Cattaneo & Soundexile mixes out now.

Our 30th chapter comes as a prestigious and unmissable pack that renders homage to a past EP of the Sudbeat factory: Japanese Snowbell by Hernan Cattaneo and Soundexile. This release has a very particular flavour and it is composed of two tracks that will also be playlisted in Hernan Cattaneo’s new compilation for Renaissance. The first track of the EP is a remix signed by one of the most talented producers of the global electronic scene, a name that has been part of the Sudbeat family since its dawn and that boasts releases on the best labels out there: the Tel Aviv born Guy J. Once again his unique and personal touch is easily recognizable thanks to a solid swinging groove in which background oriental melodies rise naturally and fluently up until a dreaming breakdown in which energies seem to soften. But it’s just an illusion. The drop is behind the corner, ready to make this hymn-like melody explode in a way you won’t easily forget. On the B side, Hernan Cattaneo and Soundexile refresh their original track slowing down the beat and creating a syncopate rhythm, perfectly fitted with the original main melody and enhanced by a hot bass line with an acoustic touch, the warmth of which creates a unique atmosphere in this downtempo track that once again proves Hernan Cattaneo’s and Soundexile’s great skills in the studio.

Hernan Cattaneo – Renaissance Master Series CD

The upcoming Hernan Cattaneo – Renaissance Master Series CD includes a few tracks that has gone through Cid Inc’s mastering facility.

Renaissance Cover

Renaissance has had a bigger part than most in the advancement of the mix compilation. Back when they began in 1992 ‘commercially available’ mixes mainly consisted of poorly recorded tapes sold from behind the counter at record shops, but things soon changed. In 1994 they released the first ever ‘The Mix Collection’ (selected and mixed by Sasha and John Digweed), pioneering the ‘mix cd’ in the process.

Now as they celebrate their twentieth year of activity they end 2012 on a bang with a flurry of compilations. The first is the seventh delivered by South American legend Hernan Cattaneo, an artist who has become synonymous with the meticulous manifesto of melody that defines Renaissance’s. Constantly pushing forward, Hernan routinely delivers mesmerizingly mixed collections that soar throughout the full canon of House and Techno, dreamily imagined collages of sound.

The first disc shuffles between deep house and off kilter electronic grooves, boasting productions from the likes of Guy J, Ripperton, Guy Gerber and Martin Garcia. Highlights include the subtle piano led electronics of diskJokke’s stunning re-interpretation of Comphunoic’s ‘Sequoia’ or the masterful ‘Ventura’ by Hal Incadenza; an alias for exciting Spanish DJ Henry Saiz. The latter has been edited by Hernan specifically for the collection and is the final one of eight personal remixes/productions that features on the mix.

The second selection sees Hernan notching up the energy levels and heading into more driving territory. Guy Gerber’s haunting take on the Cevin Fisher and Layo & Bushwacka collaboration ‘Dancing in the Dark’ is an early pace-setter, whilst the stirring melodies of the Microtrauma remix of Ümit Han ‘An Einem Traurigen Morgen’ also grab your attention. Again Hernan’s productions and remixes feature heavily with four on offer here before the album draws to a stunning close, the soaring synths and euphoric rush of Agoria creating a jaw-dropping finale.

The overall result is classic Hernan and classic Renaissance; two sumptuously mixed offerings which distil both the DJ and the brand in immaculate fashion. Better yet it works as a pointer to the global sounds that are currently dominating dancefloors, a picture perfect barometer of the electronic pulse that is making feet move the world over.
